Breaking: Josh Gordon heading to New England

Breaking: Josh Gordon heading to New England

Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, WR Josh Gordon has been traded to the New England Patriots. The Browns will receive a conditional 5th round draft pick. And there’s a catch. If Gordon plays less than ten games, the Patriots get the draft pick back.

The New England Patriots lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday and the sky was falling. People began to question the Patriots once again and it just brings a smile to my face. They are fine people. Just get over a simple L like they always have early on. This offense is a few weeks away from being back to normal. Now you add Josh Gordon? Electric factory.

This trade makes all the sense in the world for the Patriots. They take on a troubled yet game-changing WR who can become an asset so this team. Not just in the terms of being a elite receiver for this team, but being a presence that can free up Gronk, which is key to the Patriots success. This deal is an incredibly exciting one for Patriot fans, and certainly a scary one for everyone else in the league.

And an even better little factor here, Gordon looks to be healthy enough to play Sunday if he can lock himself in enough to learn.

Josh Gordon’s Return to the NFL

Finally, one of the NFL’s most prolific playmakers makes his long awaited return to a hopeful, full NFL season. Browns WR Josh Gordon is finally ready to come back to the football field with his mind on the only thing that matters now, which is football.

Last season, Gordon returned to the NFL late in the season after missing the past 54 games prior due to multiple suspensions for his substance issues that go on for years now. It became a running joke for many NFL fans because they knew that this guy would not be able to play because he just couldn’t get clean, but for the real fans of “Flash”, they hoped that one day the former first-team All Pro and elite receiver would return to the NFL and just play some ball. And when he has the opportunity to play a full season of ball for the Browns, the numbers are incredible.

Gordon’s best season came all the way back in 2013 when he played 14 games (suspended for the first two, sigh), racked up 87 catches for 1,648 yards which led the league that season, 9 TDs, and somehow managed to average an incredible 117.6 yards per game with multiple Browns QBs at the helm that season (shocker). Simply put, if Josh Gordon can remain in game, he’s going to be a complete game-changer for the rest of his career.

With Baker Mayfield/Tyrod Taylor in the fold for the Cleveland Browns, and Jarvis Landry among the top weapons added, this offense will be as fun and active as ever. The chance for Gordon to not see double coverage and have a capable QB at the helm means that this offense can win games for this team. The addition of Gordon finally being in the fold will truly make this offense special in the future.

So what are your thoughts? Are you happy to see one of the games former elites make a return to the gridiron? Or do you think he will just push it away again?

Let me know!
